Stephen W. Gardner, President & CEO
Steve is responsible
for the strategic direction, financial management, and marketing and
sales functions for Apta Software.
Steve has worked with hundreds of school districts nationwide to implement effective
instructional technology programs to support effective instruction and management in order
to improve student achievement. Steve has a BA from Williams College and an MBA from the Wharton
School of Business.
Prior to joining Apta, Steve was the Vice President of Instructional Solutions for NCS Learn, a business of
NCS Pearson, where he was responsible for all marketing, product strategy and business development for a suite
of instructional products used by more than 20,000 schools around the world. Steve was also the Vice President
of Marketing & Sales for NovaNET Learning. He joined NovaNET Learning in January 1992 as a member of its senior
management team and built and managed the sales and marketing organization, achieving a 34% compound annual
revenue growth rate over nine years. NCS Pearson acquired NovaNET Learning in June 1999. Steve was previously
an international strategic management consultant and has extensive experience with technology based enterprises.
Kevin P. Cain, Vice President, Engineering
Kevin is
responsible for design and development of the product including all
technology and architectural issues related to product development.
Kevin is a
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer with a specialization in SQL
Server. He has a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering from the
University of Arizona and extensive experience in all aspects of the
software development process. His design skills include client/server
systems, relational databases, and object-oriented techniques. Prior
to joining Apta, Kevin held a technical team lead position at Integra
Technology, Inc., where he developed mission critical software systems
for companies such as Hughes Aircraft, Motorola Inc., R. R. Donnelly
& Sons Publishing, Philips Semiconductor, Sandia National
Laboratories, Baxter Healthcare, IKON Office Solutions, and the IBM
Corporation.
